Training weekend June 13-14

Lina and Steve at Better MTB invite you to a fun and educational training weekend in JBP. Racing requires both good bike skills and a "calm and positive head".

Become consistent in your riding while pushing yourself forward. Meet new friends, get inspired and learn from each other. We want to create a platform where there is a nice atmosphere and everyone is included.

For who? 

  • You are between 13-18 years. 
  • Understand Swedish.
  • Race enduro or downhill. 
  • Motivated to develop both on the bike and theoretically. 

Program 

We meet Saturday morning at 08:30 on June 13. We get to know each other and chat before we start warming up and biking. The weekend ends on Sunday, June 14 at 16:30. JBP is a great arena for lots of biking and fun hanging out.

Biking

We ride a lot together and everyone can be inspired and learn from each other.

We break down the elements and technique training and focus on specific basic skills. Sunday morning we start by walking a track together and talking about line choices and what to think about when racing. 

The participants also do some timed runs in training with the goal of being consistant in their riding, i.e. pushing themselves but at the same time focusing on biking in control.

Mindset

The weekend does not only consist of biking, but we take time to sit down together and talk about the mental part of achieving their goals. Goals can be anything from having fun and a good feeling in the body to a certain position in a race. 

The goal is to gain awareness of all the parts that are important for the whole picture. The mindset is at least as important as fitness and how good we are on the bike.

How do I handle nerves, can I reduce stress, how do I train for a competition, how do I plan my recharge, what works for ME? Here is a good opportunity to have an open discussion in a safe environment.

Also includes lunches on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday evening. Lift pass and accommodation not included. The camp is carried out with a minimum of 8 participants. 

Things to plan before the weekend

Check the bike before arrival, so that it is functional and in good condition. Checklist:

  • The gears work as they should.
  • Is the suspension and rebound working as it should?
  • No play anywhere on the bike.
  • Good brake pads and the brakes work as they should. 
  • The tires have good thread. 

Bring clothing as needed and make sure you have all the protection you need, such as a full-face helmet, back protector, knee pads, gloves, goggles. 

Bring snacks or money for snacks and a water bottle that can be placed by the lift.
